frequently asked questions
Who is Firefox Bar for?
Firefox Bar is a tool for website and blog owners. It was created for the sole purpose of easily encouraging users to view the web with Firefox. If you don't have a blog or website, or are not able to use the bar, there are still many things you can do to help spread Firefox. Visit www.spreadfirefox.com for more.
What are the requirements for using Firefox Bar?
Firefox Bar uses xHTML and Javascript, it does not use any serverside coding. A standard, preferably valid, website should suffice. The bar has only been tested with xHTML 1.0 DOCTYPEs. We use jQuery as a Javascript framework. See the FFBar for websites page for information on using other frameworks with Firefox Bar.
To what extent can I modify the bar?
Refer to our guidelines page.
How does Firefox Bar work?
Javascript is used to detect the user's browser. Then, the bar is displayed if the user is not using Firefox (or a Gecko-engine based browser).
Why does Firefox Bar use a cookie?
We use a cookie to prevent the bar from being displayed if it has been closed. The cookie expires at the end of the session (usually when the user closes their browser). Our cookie stores absolutely no information about the user, it simply records the closing of the bar.
Why is the download link to SpreadFirefox?
SpreadFirefox is a community based marketing program for Firefox. The link is an affiliate link which allows the success of the Firefox Bar to be measured. There is no money involved with this program. If you would like to change the link to point to www.firefox.com or your own SpreadFirefox link, you are free to do so. For more information see our guidelines.
I don't like the ads on your site.
Sorry, I have hosting bills to pay. If you have Firefox, you should be using Adblock Plus anyways.
